The Tennessee Board of Regents establishes the admission requirements for age, status, counseling and testing.  Tennessee Technology Center at Murfreesboro maintains an open-door policy for admission into occupational programs.  However, educational requirements for admission vary from program to program.  Due to licensing requirements, some of our programs require a regular high school diploma or GED.

Admission Requirements:
The minimum age for enrollment is 18 (age 17 with high school diploma or GED).  Any other special enrollments, under eighteen, must be approved by the Center’s Director.  The enrollment of high school students requires a special agreement between the Tennessee Board of Regents and the local Board of Education.  Prospective students are urged to apply at any time. Steps in making application are as follows:
  1. Contact the Center to obtain information and an application form.
  2. Discuss primary objectives with the Student Services Department.
  3. Complete the application for enrollment and file it with the Student Services office.
  4. Submit a high school transcript, diploma, or GED transcript.
  5. Biomedical, Dental Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, LPN, Phlebotomy and Surgical Technology applicants must pass the COMPASS Test. The applicant will be notified of place, date, time, and cost of testing.
  6. Report to the Tennessee Technology Center at Murfreesboro to confirm course assignment relative to class schedules, instructor name, etc. Student Services will notify applicants as to time. Certain other physical and educational requirements must be met by applicants for some courses. Biomedical, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Surgical Technology, and LPN applicants must be a high school graduate or GED graduate. Biomedical students maybe dual enrolled.  Previous education and/or training will be evaluated.
  7. Obtain financial aid application, if desired.
