Course Description The Biomedical Technology Program’s mission is to provide the technical instruction and skill development to enable the students to become successful in the allied health field or as biomedical assistant technicians. Topics covered will include understanding laboratory procedures fundamental to biomedical research which include recombinant DNA, protein purification, cell and tissue culture. The curriculum includes lecture, laboratory activities, and guest speakers. Topics include: introduction to Biomedical applications, clinical laboratory skills, medical terminology, scientific research, communication and workplace skills. During the last trimester, the students will have clinical opportunities available through the Biotechnology companies. The Biomedical student must complete the prescribed course of study and clinical experience to receive the diploma.
Upon successful completion of the Biomedical Technology Program, students will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to effectively begin an entry-level health care position according to relevant industry standards. Admission Requirements
• Complete TTCM application process. • Must be 18 years of age or older. • Provide a regular high school diploma, GED transcript (must submit with application), or be dual enrolled high school junior or senior (see counselor for details on dual enrollment). • Pass COMPASS Test.
Students are subject to drug screening and criminal background checks based upon clinical affiliation agreements. Course of Study
