Business Systems Technology

Picture of Business Systems Technology

The mission of the Business Systems Technology Program is to provide technical training through traditional and distance instructional delivery systems to enable students to become successful employees in the Administrative and Accounting Support fields. The Business Systems Technology program will provide you with the necessary skills to obtain an entry-level job in an office environment.  Both the Administrative and Accounting Support programs start with basic office skills and introduce you to concepts necessary for the field you choose. Upon completion of the program, you will have an understanding of office procedures, a core background of office skills, and knowledge of business software. Although technical knowledge is important, you will also learn the human interaction skills necessary for a successful business career. The goal of the program is for you to develop into a professional office employee. Your instruction will be individualized and hands-on. A business environment is simulated within the classroom, and each student has an assigned workstation. Written and performance tests are given to record your progress. If you qualify, you may spend part of your training day working part-time in a company or industry in the local area. You may be able to earn money, gain experience on the job, and learn in the actual work environment while enrolled at the Center.
