Course Description
The mission of the Practical Nursing Program is to provide the technical instruction and skill development for the student to become gainfully employed in the nursing field.
This course will provide you with the technical instruction and skill development for you to become gainfully employed in the nursing field. The Practical Nurse works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician or as an assistant to the professional nurse. Practical Nurses in Tennessee must be professionally trained under guidelines set by and accreditation given by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing.
The student who completes the prescribed course of study and clinical experience will earn the diploma and be entitled to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Practical Nurses and become a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Admission Requirements:- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Complete TTCM application process
- Provide a regular high school diploma or GED transcript (must submit with application)
- Provide letters of reference
- Physical exam with proof of TB test and required immunization
- Personal interview
- Pass COMPASS Test
- Attend informational session about the program
Students are subject to drug screening and criminal background checks based upon clinical affiliation agreements.
Course Awards A diploma is awarded when you successfully complete the course.
Diploma 1296 hours Vocational Relations Nursing Principles and Skills Pharmacology Math Nutrition Anatomy and Physiology Medical/Surgical Nursing Maternal/Child Nursing Pediatric Nursing Mental Health Nursing Geriatric Nursing Common Emergencies Advanced Vocational Relations Related Clinicals Cost of training includes textbooks, supplies, personal items, liability insurance, and tuition.
